Kylie Minogue, Janet Jackson and Madonna all appear on both the first and penultimate mixes in the series chronologically. Q-Tip achieves this but not as a solo artist having appeared as a group member of A Tribe Called Quest and a guest vocalist (with Deee-Lite) on Ultramix 90. Guru Josh achieves this but only due to his one appearance on Ultramix 90 re-appearing in remixed form on this year's mix.
Grace Jones is the longest-active artist to appear (and debut) on Ultramix 08 with a pop career spanning 30 years or so but Madonna, Janet Jackson and now Cyndi Lauper (also making her first Ultramix appearance) are not far behind with 25 year+ careers but Kraftwerk would better this record by virtue of appearing on Ultramix 03. Madonna also takes her record of most appearances (by year if not by track) on an Ultramix to 8.
